Benzonia--Duane E. Dennis, 67, of Benzonia, died Wednesday at his home.
Born June 29, 1931, in Flint, he was the son of Herman L., and Ines M. (Sicard) Dennis. On June 16, 1956, in Marion, he married Jeanette L. Corner.

Duane served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. A resident of Benzonia since 1963, formerly of Marion, he was a designer and engineer for Climatron Heating and Cooling for 20 years. After retiring in 1993, he was employed as a funeral director's assistant by the Bennett-Jonkoff Funeral Home. He was a member of the Frankfort United Methodist church wehere he was active in the church men' club and worked with the youth for many years. He was also a member of the Benzie Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club, member and past president of T.R.A.M.P.S. and the Benzie Area RC Club. He was a boy scout counselor and served on the scout committee. He loved to sail and fly radio controlled airplanes.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette "Jan"; sons, Jamie Dennis of South Bend, Indiana, Leslie (Karen) Dennis of Beulah, Bruce (Marilyn) Dennis of Columbus, Ohio, and Patrick (Kimberly) Dennis of Benzonia; daughter Paula (Rick) Stockford of Clare; grandchildren, Jordan Lee Dennis, Mary Ryan Holbert, Shawn Michael Stockford, Kelsey Liegh Stockford, Lindsey Amanda Louise Stockford, Matt Brent Dennis, Calvin Duane Dennis, Dayanara Rachelle Dennis, Amber Nicole Dennis and Kelly Curtis Dennis; brothers, Derwin (Gloria) Dennis of Marion, David (Nancy) Dennis of Evart, and Dean (Ethel) Dennis of Prudenville; sister, Diane (Keith) Smith of Evart; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Louise and Al Furkey.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Dale.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. today at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Frankfor United Methodist Church with Rev. Marvin Rosa officating. Burial will be in Benzonia Township Cemetery.
