A memorial service was held at the school Monday evening for Eugene Kropp who lost his llife in Korea last September (1952). The members of his class placed a plaque in the hall of the school, which was unveiled by his mother at the services.

Marine Private First Class Edward Galla, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Galla of Cedar, was promoted to his present rank when he was recently graduated from 'boot camp.' Galla climaxed his recruit training by winning the marksman medal on a score of 202 out of a possible 250 during his weapons training. In addition to firing the Garand rifle for qualification. Galla fired other infantry weapons such as the .45 calibre pistol, carbine, and Browning automatic rifle. Galla enlisted in the Marine Corps on Februaru 27, 1951. He will be transferred from Parris Island to a Marine Corps unit serving on land, sea or in the air.

Spend Weekend--The Misses Rose Marie Kabat and Martha Marsee of Detroit spent the weekend with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kabat of Cedar. Accompanying them back to Detroit were Miss Kabat's brother, Bernard Kabat, and nephew Sgt. Edward Galla, USMC, who was returning to Camp Miami, Florida.

Edward Galla, who will report at Camp Miami, Florida, after spending his furlough with his paretns Mrs. Peter Galla and Bernard Kabot.
