Promoted in Korea:
Owen L. Dixon, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Dixon, 3140 Valk street, Muskegon, formerly of Buckley, has been promote3d to corporal while serving with the 772 Military Police Battalion in Korea. He is in Company C of "Seven-Seven Duce" one of the oldest M. P. outfits in Korea. Cpl. Dixon spent his school days in Buckley where he graduated with the 1950 high school class. Following graduation he went to Muskegon where he was employed at the Central Paper mill. Entering the army in April, 1953, Cpl. Dixon received his basic training, at Camp Atterbury, Indiana training in Korea January, 1954.

Marine Pvt. Leroy H. Morrison, Jr. of Kalkaska was scheduled to arrive in San Francisco, California on December 11th aboard the transport General A. W. Brewster, after serving 11 months in Korea with the First Marine Division.

Son Awarded Badge

Pfc Russell Chippewa, son of Mrs. E. Chippewa, Omena Route 1, (Leelanau County) is currently serving with United Nations troops in Korea as a gunner in the machine gun platoon of Company M, 187th Regiment, of the 11th Airborne Division. Chippewa recently participated in a regimental task force drive by the 187th Regiment against North Korean resistance along the Tongjin peninsula north of Seoul where he was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge.

Sgt. Russell Chippewa, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Chippewa of Rt. 1, Omena (Leelanau County, Michigan) has been spending a 35-day furlough at his home prior to being sent to Europe for assignment. He is a member of the 511th Airborne Infantry regiment of the 11th Airborne Division. Sgt. Chippewa has served in Korea. He enlisted in 1942, receiving his basic treaining at Fort Hood, Texas.

Pfc. Joseph Belanger has been home on leave from Camp Atterbury, Indiana, where he has been hospitalized for nearly two years as a result of action in Korea.
