Traverse City-- George H. Rohde, 75, of Traverse City, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, at home. Born on Feb. 8, 1928, in Muskegon, he was the son of Herman L and Anna (Enkleman) Rohde.

On June 9, 1956, in Traverse City, he married the former Dorothy M. Smith, who survives.

George was a member of the VFW Post #2780 of Traverse City, and the American Legion Post #436 of Kingsley. He served in the United States Army honorably during the Korean Conflict, from 1950 to 1952.

George was formerly employed by Ralstan-Purvis, M. J. MacIntosh and Co., Builders Plumbing and Supple, and Stromberg-Carlson, from which he retired.

George loved to work in the garden, ice fish, help anyone in need and spend time with his extended family.

He is survived by his special family, Dennis, Donald, Pete, Dwayne Morton and Dorothy Fifarek; his nice, Patti Ritsema; his special little friends, Tabitha, Amanda, David, Logan, Tyler, Hannah, Griffin and Dillon; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Hilda.

Memorial services will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Thursday, Jan 15, 2004 at 11 a. m. with the Rev. Father Gerald Micketti as celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice, St. Patrick Catholic Church, or to the charity of your choice.

Arrangements are by the Reynolds-Jonkoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
